IRATA Rope Access & Confined Space Solutions
When conventional access methods - scaffolding, cherry pickers, mobile elevated work platforms - are impractical due to logistics, site configuration, height constraints or cost, specialist rope access provides a safe, fully compliant and highly cost-effective alternative.
Corrotec works with IRATA certified rope access teams operating to the very latest health and safety regulations - delivering access solutions for inspection, survey, treatment and repair work at height and below ground.
Confined space working requires specialist training, risk assessment and rescue capability that goes well beyond standard site competency. Our confined space teams are fully trained and equipped for safe entry, working and rescue operations in the most challenging below-ground environments.
Applications include:
- Chimney and flue stack inspection and repair
- Lift shaft inspection and treatment
- Bridge soffit and structural inspection
- Anchor testing and structural surveys
- De-vegetation and bird netting installation
- Below-ground pit, tank and silo works
- Drainage and sewer inspection and treatment
- Confined space entry, working and rescue
Ideal for heritage buildings, industrial structures, bridges, infrastructure, ports and any location where conventional access is impractical or uneconomical.

Doff & Torc
Heritage Cleaning
Historic buildings, structures and statues demand cleaning methods that are both highly effective and completely safe for substrate - conventional pressure washing or abrasive cleaning can cause irreversible damage to aged stone, masonry and decorative features that took generations to create. Doff and TORC are two leading heritage-approved cleaning systems, widely specified by conservation architects, English Heritage and local authority conservation officers for use on listed and historic structures.
Doff Steam Cleaning System
The Doff system cleans stonework, masonry and historic surfaces using superheated steam at high temperature and very low pressure - making it exceptionally gentle on the substrate while being highly effective at removing biological growth, staining, paint layers and surface contamination. The low water volume used means surfaces dry within minutes, minimising disruption and allowing follow-on treatment or inspection almost immediately.
Applications include:
- Listed and historic stone buildings
- Statues, memorials and decorative masonry
- Brick, terracotta and faience facades
- Removal of paint, graffiti and biological growth
- Pre-treatment cleaning before repair or protection
TORC Cleaning System
The TORC system uses a gentle swirling vortex of fine granules, water and air to remove surface contaminants from masonry, stone and concrete without damaging the substrate. Particularly effective on heaviliy soiled or deeply ingrained contamination where Doff system alone may not achieve the required result - TORC is equally gentle and heritage-approved, making it suitable for the most sensitive historic surfaces.
Applications include:
- Heavily soiled historic stonework and masonry
- Deeply ingrained staining and contamination
- Paint and render removal from historic facades
- Pre-repair cleaning of heritage structures
- Conservation cleaning to architect specification

Masonry Repair, Repointing & Anti-Carbonation Protection
Unlike the Doff or TORC systems, sometimes the requirement is for a heavier process to remove multiple layers of industrial paints or finishes to otherwise forgotten surfaces.
Utilising various techniques from contained poultice to blast cleaning and granular media, or a mix of all, delivering stunning results to masonry that is to be left on display.
Also undertaking crack repair, brick replacement, re-pointing & sealing whilst on site to totally refurbish the building.
